More than just art supplies.
Since 1977, we’ve been a leading manufacturer of safe, high-quality art materials for children and adults. We’re passionate about nurturing creativity and giving back to our South African community.
Panda’s core mission has always been about safety and accessibility. Founded with the belief that art supplies should be kind to both children and the environment, we developed non-toxic formulas from the very beginning. This commitment hasn’t wavered – even with the ongoing challenge of sourcing organic pigments and raw materials, often imported from overseas. Our goal? To make safe, affordable art a reality for all South African children.
Art Supplies since 1977
Safety first: We’ve always championed non-toxic, environmentally friendly products.
Empowering educators: We offer regular teacher workshops across South Africa, sparking new ideas and classroom inspiration.
Giving back: We partner with inspiring organizations like LIV Village and Neema Foundation to support vulnerable children and art education initiatives.
Sustainability: We recently partnered with Uzwelo to utilise recycled materials in our art bags and aprons, reflecting our long-standing commitment to the environment.
Panda is a company built on a strong foundation. Established in 1977, we’ve been crafting high-quality art materials for both children and adults in South Africa for generations. Our dedication to quality and service is evident in everything we do, from offering competitive prices to continuously expanding our product range.
Acquisitions have allowed us to bring well-known brands under our umbrella, while key members like our in-house chemist, factory supervisors (Philo and Phiwo), friendly admin staff, and enthusiastic nationwide sales team ensure every aspect of Panda runs smoothly.
High School Visual Arts teachers are invited to a workshop on July 27th, 2024 at Reddam Ballito. Renowned South African portrait artist, Sharon Bischoff, will be guiding you through the art of pastel portraits.
We’re committed to making a positive impact beyond our products by partnering with inspiring organisations through various outreach programmes:
Ardmore Community Fund & Thembelihle School (since 2022)
We support their mission of uplifting underprivileged children by annually providing R10,000 worth of art materials, fueling their creative exploration and fostering self-discovery.
Hilton College Art with Angel Care (since 2023)
We believe in nurturing the spirit of giving in young people. We’ve equipped the Grade 10 volunteers at Hilton College with art supplies for their after-school programme at Angel Care, allowing them to share their artistic talents and inspire the next generation.
LIV Village (since 2012)
A haven for vulnerable children, LIV Village provides holistic care and aims to raise future leaders. We’ve proudly partnered with them for 12 years, donating art supplies and previously conducting hands-on art lessons to unlock creativity and ignite the potential within these young individuals.
Neema Foundation (since 2018)
We run weekly Teacher Art Education workshops for educators at Neema Foundation’s community schools. By equipping them with skills and techniques, we empower teachers to become facilitators of creativity and inspire a lifelong love of art in their students.
Uzwelo Going Green Partnership
We’re committed to environmental responsibility. Partnering with Uzwelo allows us to use their art bags and aprons made from recycled materials in our product line. This aligns with our long-standing commitment to sustainability, a value we’ve held since Panda’s founding in 1977.
Nationchangers creches
Nationchangers based out of City Hill Church in Hillcrest support 13 under privileged creches in the Valley of 1000 Hills. These children have very little access to materials for other than basic subjects. Panda Paints has committed to providing Readymix paint and glue to each and every one of the 13 creches in 2025. In addition to this members of the Panda family are teaching crafts to a number of the creches every Tuesday morning at 9.30. They are greeted with wide smiles and song and the children thoroughly enjoy their weekly exploration of art and craft materials the Panda ladies bring.
